Version 6.12b2 - October 2026
- Audio ducking is now also available per slide. Enabling ducking on a range of slides reduces the volume of all audio tracks, so you can speak live while presenting the slideshow.
- Audio can now have a fixed duration. Instead of spanning a number of slides, it then plays for exactly the specified time, no matter how the slide durations change later. Turn it on with the new "Fixed Duration" checkbox in the Options section of Audio Options, or in the Options submenu of the audio context menu.
- The start and end of audio with a fixed duration can be adjusted by dragging its edges in the Storyboard and Timeline.
- Short sound effects (e.g. a camera shutter or a thunderclap) that are shorter than the slide they are added to now automatically get a fixed duration. They play exactly once, without fades and without looping.
- Recorded narration, and audio added to the narration track, now automatically gets a fixed duration, so that words are never cut off when slide durations are changed later.
- A warning icon is shown when audio with a fixed duration overlaps the next audio in the same track. Clicking the icon offers to shorten the audio, so that the overlap is avoided.
- When the media file of a short sound effect with a fixed duration is replaced, its duration is adjusted to the length of the new file.
- "Match Slide Durations to Audio" is not available for audio with a fixed duration, as its length does not depend on the slides it spans.
- Adding large media files like videos via drag & drop or the "Slideshow > Insert" menu no longer freezes FotoMagico while they are being copied. Inserting images or videos via the menu now also shows a progress window, where the import can be cancelled.
- Start of audio playback is now more precise. Audio no longer starts about half a second late after a period of silence, e.g. at the beginning of playback, or after slides without any audio.
- Audio waveforms are displayed again for AIFF, CAF and WAV files, e.g. for recorded narration.
- Waveforms of very quiet audio are now enlarged, so that they are clearly visible in the Timeline.
- Dragging the left or right edge of audio now stops correctly when hitting the edge of other audio in the same track. That way overlapping audio is avoided.
- When dropping an audio file in front of other audio in the same track, the audio now extends right up to the following audio, instead of ending one slide early. The same applies to "Insert Audio File" and to shortening audio in the audio duration warning.
- Dropping a music snippet in front of existing music in the same track no longer inserts blank slides into the existing music, which caused audio marker errors.
- The floating Writing Tools button no longer stays on screen after finishing text editing, where clicking it could cause a crash.
- The document chooser no longer downloads entire cloud-based documents just to display their thumbnails.
- Avoided a potential hang when displaying the recent documents in the document chooser.
- The "Audio Not Long Enough" warning now shows the correct explanation and options for audio with a fixed duration.
- The audio duration warning popover now closes automatically once one of its remedies has fixed the problem.
- The red stripes that mark the part of an audio track without audio now adapt correctly when the playback speed is changed.
- Adding a layer to a slide whose media file is missing no longer shows the layers on the Stage in the wrong order.
- Avoid situations where thumbnails of images that were dropped onto the Storyboard are incomplete or missing.
- Undo and redo are now more efficient and reliable.
- Various stability improvements.
